Should stop moaning about the walk as people forget how congested it was ay UP. At least you have Jubillee , Central Line and DLR options.
I was at the back in the BM upper. probably one of the worst seats. My opinion is it' not as bad as people make out but it ain't a football stadium full stop.
The atmos was OK and lets face it it wasn't that gre

Visit Southend on a Barmy sunny day and it's marvelous. Go on a dreary wet and windy day and you might not be so enthused.

Nail on head. When Banjo went (another Aussie expat) he was gushing about it too. Not a coincidence.

That's a legitimate point. But:
1. It *is* impressive to see a 60k stadium with our name on it.
2. Shit journey to the station - true enough, but the many memories of standing in a never ending queue outside Upton Park station, often in cold rain and after a miserable defeat, avoiding stepping into horse shit, patiently ignoring some little brat jumping over the railings ahead of you, and with a bladder desperate to empty itself, remain.
3. Our real home. More accurately, our former home. Undoubtedly lamented and missed, but still our former home that no amount of bleating will bring back. Three accomplished sales people offered us the vision of a dream. Enough of us bought into it. We now have no choice but to make the best of what we have. It could and should have been a lot better, but let's be honest - it could also have been worse. For better or for worse, that bowl is our real home now and will be for the next 97.5 years.

Wiki's article on the Boleyn Ground seems to have shrunk considerably.
I'm sure that it used to have a description of the original stands, and WHY they were described as remarkable.
As well as some words about Henri Pillipe Tiite Parker, the original architect.
IF I remember correctly, he was a Frenchman with some English ancestry.

With all due respect Sydney, you were another tourist, all wide eyed (and possibly legless...:) ) at actually seeing a 60k stadium with our name on it. As someone else points out, try doing that - and the shit journey to the station - week in week out.
The bowl is shit and incomparable with our real home, which was so much more than a building, as we all know.

As with all new developments, I’m Sure that as time goes by, more building works will take place and will fill the gaps. When we first moved to the Boleyn in 1904 it wasn’t the place we finally left by any stretch of the imagination.
I mentioned in an earlier post about Bayern Munich. The Allianz Arena, for instance, is in the middle of an empty wasteland, now THAT is a soulless place, without any sign of life, to walk backwards and forwards to (local station is Fröttmaning, a good 20-30 minute walk away.)

Back in Oz today, did enjoy my day out at the new stadium and still hold the view its far from the cesspit some describe, and agree with others that its our performances in that stadium that is more of the issue, apart from the odd good day out we have seen more of our fair share of dog shit served up!
Think if you want a good experience though, maybe buy the better tickets as like all big stadiums the cheaper ones far up in the stands or with some obstruction make for a completely different experience, saying that, it looked like everyone leaving the game was very happy come the end of the game, well until it came to that soulless hike to Stratford and the stewards with there stop and go signs WTF!
Not sure West Ham would have anything to do with the areas around the stadium but surely Newham council or whomever is responsible for it could improve that or do something with it?

The only problem with our new stadium is that the football has been shit. Nothing to do with the the stadium at all. If your team is shipping goals with such regularity, the atmosphere will be shit. On the few occasions we have played well, like yesterday and against tottenham and Palace last season the atmosphere has been tremendous.

Cant imagine they will consider selling until they get to the date (2021?) when the government gets no claw back of some of the profit on sale. Til then its about spending as little as they can get away with to finish 17th each season. While spinning a load of bollocks and making the occasional apology and promise to do better when necessary.
They will only leave before then if their lives are made unbearable.

Sullivan is unlikely to admit to wanting to sell unless he has a buyer lined up.
The woeful lack of spending since we've moved into the stadium is hard to explain other than that they're hoping to sell.
Fingers crossed that it happens quickly.

Sadly, I make you right arsegrapes.
That's why I'll hardly be enthralled if we stay-up as the likelihood is that it'll be the same old shit again next year with the lying cheapskate idiot dickhead wanker owners that we have.

Investment on players should be a given but we wont get that with the current owners. They have made a record £43m profit LAST YEAR for 2106/2017!
2017/2018 should be considerably higher!
This poses the question WHY have they not invested more into the team and risked relegation with a net spend of £29m since we moved?
Some have said because they are selling or getting ready to sell, but Sullivan said the other day that he will only sell in 5-6 years if we don't progress.
If they won't spend on players they definitely won't spend on the stadium because it will cost a lot more with no ROI.
There is only one conclusion, they are deliberately hoarding cash and plowing it into the bottom line to show the net profit in the accounts in the best possible light for potential future sale at the highest possible price to increase their wealth exponentially to the detriment of the loyal supporters who hand over their hard earned.
Don't expect next season to be any different. There will be loads of sales to recuperate lots of cash to offset the purchase of a couple of £20m players. Trouble is £20m doesn't get much these days Benteke went for £35m with add one and we need a whole new team not just one or two.
Another relegation battle beckons next season.
